Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player in history to reach 100 goals in European competition after his brace in the side’s 2-1 win against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Zinedine Zidane’s side were trailing going into the interval but a double from Ronaldo in the second half gave the La Liga giants the advantage heading into the second leg at the Bernabeu.

The Portugal international had to wait until his fourth season at Manchester United to bag his first goal in the Champions League and he added a further 14 before joining Madrid in a world record £80million move in 2009.

Since then, Ronaldo’s scored an astonishing 85 goals for Madrid in European competition across eight seasons and his brace tonight means he’s the first player to reach 100.
