Two men are arrested and a pistol and quantities of ammunition and marijuana seized, by officers of the Sangre Grande Crime Patrol Unit, in an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Vega de Oropouche district.
During the exercise, officers proceeded to Rampersad Trace, around 8:50am, on Monday 27th August, 2018, where they observed a 34-year-old man standing outside a house with a firearm in his possession.
The man ran off, but was held a short distance away by officers.
A search of the suspect resulted in a PX4 Storm Beretta pistol being found in his possession, loaded with a magazine which contained no bullets.
The man was arrested in connection with the find.
The officers then proceeded to another house in the district, where they executed a search warrant.
The search resulted in one box containing 25 rounds of 12 gauge cartridges, along with 14 packets containing 17.4 grammes of marijuana being discovered hidden in the ceiling of the house.
A 19-year-old man who was found in the house at the time of the exercise, was arrested in connection with the finds.
Investigations are ongoing.
