Two law enforcement officers murdered; one killed in fall at his home

Three law enforcement officers are dead, two of whom were murdered early this morning.

The third officer was killed by a fall down some stairs at his home.

In the first incident, a police officer was murdered early this morning on his way home.

Police reports state that around 12:30 am today, Special Reserved Police Constable Jason Cyril John who is assigned to the Court and Process Branch, Port-of-Spain was on his way home at William Trace, Five Rivers, Arouca. 

He was speaking to his wife when she heard several loud explosions through the phone.

He was later found him lying on the roadway with an injury to his head.

The Northern Divisional Task Force responded and John was taken to the Arima Hospital where he later died.

The other murder was that of a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment.

The soldier has been identified as Corporal Jerry Leacock.

Police say that around 5.30 this morning, the soldier, who was attached to the Cumuto Base, was awaken by his wife's screams and on running into the living room at their Jacob Hill, Wallerfield home, he was confronted by four men, one of whom shot him in his chest.

The men then made their escape in the soldiers red Versa vehicle, registered  as PDB 2463.

Details on the third incident remain sketchy. CNC3 has been told that Acting Corporal Bahadoor was killed by a fall down some stairs at his home.

That incident occurred this morning.
