Two more persons are expected to appear before the San Fernando 1st Magistrates’ Court today, charged with rape, kidnapping and sexual assault, against two female victims.
The crimes are alleged to have occurred on Saturday 29th December, 2018.
Reuben Thomas, 20, a labourer of Esperance Village and Anniece Ravello, 28, also a labourer of Ste Madeleine, were both charged with the offences on Tuesday by PC Sheldon Gosine, of the San Fernando Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
Thomas was held by officers on Friday, while Ravello surrendered to the San Fernando CID on Sunday.
The victims told police they boarded a white Nissan Tiida motor vehicle with three male occupants around 3:45 am on Saturday 29th December, 2018, in the San Fernando district and requested to be taken to Fyzabad.
The men allegedly took the women to Diamond Village, where a fourth man, armed with a gun ordered them out of the vehicle.
The women were then assaulted and robbed of quantities of cash, jewelry and a cellular phone.
The women were forced back into the vehicle, which proceeded to Debe, where they were assaulted yet again, before being dropped off in the Penal district.
The men then drove away.
Two other accused, Joshua Williams, 31, a labourer, and Jerod Boysie aka “Raymond Abdool”, 20, a mechanic, both of Diamond Village, San Fernando, appeared before the courts on Wednesday 9th January, 2019, to answer to the same charges.
