A Venezuelan national was shot and killed shortly after nine last evening.
Initial reports had suggested that a gunman had alighted from a vehicle and opened fire on a gyro vendor, who was plying his trade in the vicinity of the ABC roundabout in Point Fortin.
However, police have since confirmed that the victim has been identified as a Venezuelan national who was standing near the gyro vendor's stall.
The shooting incident sent bystanders scampering to safety.
The police were contacted and on arrival, discovered the man lying in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound to the head.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim is yet to be identified and police are working on a motive for the man's killing.
