WASA restores service to North Trinidad

The Water and Sewerage Authority says it has restored service to some part of North Trinidad served by the Caroni Water Treatment Plant after completing repairs to the blown air valve along the 48-inch diameter Caroni North Transmission Main in Piarco.

In a release Friday morning, WASA said the repairs were completed and the supply reopened at approximately 9.30 am.

It said the transmission system is being recommissioned to provide a pipe-borne water supply to affected areas. However, it pointed out that it may take between 24 to 48 hours for the service to normalise to some areas.

WASA also said some customers may experience some discolouration in their water supply as the service is restored. This will be due to system flushing exercises. It said customers experiencing such a supply should allow their water to run until it clears.

For further information or assistance, customers were asked to contact WASA's Call Centre at 800-4420/4426. The authority apologised for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their understanding.
