A 28-year-old Customs officer is now warded in critical condition at the hospital after she sustained burns to her body in a house fire that she had allegedly ignited on Sunday.
According to a police report, a man, who also resides at her home at Carl Jones Street in Arima was also injured.
Police said that at about 4.20 pm the two were at home when they got into an argument.
The woman left the room, and returned with a bottle and poured the contents onto the floor then lit it.
Within seconds, police said, the house was engulfed.
The two were taken to the Arima Health Facility, where they were both treated.
The man suffered burns to the left side of his body, hands, face and back of the neck.
He is said to be warded in a stable and satisfactory condition at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.
The woman suffered 80 per cent burns to the body.
