The body of the woman today has been identified as Felecia Persad, who went missing on April 2nd in Sangre Grande.
Persad's had obtained a protection order as a result of an abusive relationship, not long before she disappeared.
Persad lived at Oropouche Road, Sangre Grande and was last seen where she worked at Giselle's Fashion, Toco Road, Sangre Grande.
She never arrived home after work on April 2nd.
The decomposing body of a woman was found by Forestry workers, floating by in the Mitan River, Manzanilla on Friday morning.
Reports indicate that Forestry employee Mohan Kemraj and a gang of workers were in the process of clearing the river banks in the area when they noticed what appeared to be a human body wrapped in plastic, floating in the water.
They made their way out to the main road where they flagged down a passing police vehicle.
The body was removed by Forestry workers under police supervision and brought to the area of the Manzanilla bridge.
Crime scene investigators revealed that the body was that of an East Indian female .
The body appeared to be in an advanced state of decomposition and was removed to the Forensic Sciences Centre for further investigation.
