A contractor currently is on site at the Edinburgh Government Primary School.
This, as the school has been dealing with an infestation of pigeons in the school's ceiling since the beginning of the new school term.
Parents of students attending the school say several students have fallen ill with rashes, respiratory problems, severe itching and asthma attacks.
During the Urgent Questions session in the Senate today, minister of agriculture, Senator Clarence Rambharat—who spoke on the education minister's behalf—said the issue should be rectified by Thursday.
However, he admitted that several other problems at the school need to be addressed.
“The work that is going on now is targeted to the key area of concern, namely the ceiling,” he explained.
