Princes Town man sentenced 9 months hard labour for chopping sister

Steve Gonzales of Princes Town was sentenced to 9 months hard labour after he appeared before Senior Magistrate Indira Misir-Gosine at the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm. The following is a press release from the TTPS:

STEVE GONZALES, 41, of Circular Road, Princes Town, appeared virtually before Senior Magistrate Indira Misir-Gosine at the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court today. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to nine months’ with hard labour, he will also serve an additional 1,051 days for outstanding warrants. Gonzales was charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm following an investigation conducted by members of the Princes Town Criminal Investigation Department (CID) led by Sgt Teeluck.

It was reported that on Saturday 22nd August, 2021, around 9.15pm a man and his 26-year-old sister got into an argument. Following which he armed himself with a cutlass and dealt her a blow resulting in a 3cm laceration on her forehead and a hairline fracture. The police were contacted and members of the Princes Town CID responded. The man was later arrested and conveyed to the Princes Town Police Station. After enquires the man was charged by PC Dennis for inflicting grievous bodily harm.
