A Prisons officer has been charged by the Fraud Squad with four counts of uttering a forged document.
A release from the TTPS yesterday stated that 44 year-old Nigel Pariag, a prisons officer with 15 years’ service, was charged on March 25.
The charges came after Pariag allegedly tendered medical certificates, supposedly from the San Fernando General Hospital, between October 2015 and February 2016. Investigations conducted by Sgt (Ag) Toney of the Fraud Squad revealed that the documents intended to support leave applications were reportedly forged.
Pariag, a prisons officer I, was granted bail in the sum of $60,000 and is expected to appear virtually before the Port-of-Spain Magistrates’ Court on April 9.
