Officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the T&T Police Service (TTPS) are investigating the reported kidnapping of a 62-year-old security guard.

A ransom of $450,000 reportedly has been demanded for the safe return of Yaseem Kadir, of #6A Ashraff Road, Charlieville, Chaguanas.  She was last seen on Sunday by two co-workers and the taxi driver who dropped her off at Busy Corner in Chaguanas.

Kadir’s son reported to the police that his sister in Signal Hill, Tobago, received a phone call on her cellphone at about 11:51 pm on Monday.  A male voice reportedly told her that their mother had been kidnapped and a ransom of $450,000 had to be paid by Tuesday afternoon for her release.

Kadir’s son also told the police that his mother usually is posted at Oasis Gardens in Endeavour, but from time to time, she is posted to other locations.

He said Yaseem Kadir left home at about 6:15 am on Sunday and has not returned since.

Relatives said calls to her cellphone have gone unanswered and checks with friends and relatives have been futile.

Yaseem Kadir reportedly was dressed in a dark blue shirt with the Guardsman Security logo on the pocket, along with a pair of dark blue pants and black shoes when she was last seen.  She is said to be about five feet five inches tall with a medium build, and has a round face with black and grey shoulder-length hair.

Investigations are ongoing.
