RC Archbishop: “Do more to cease inequality in T&T…”

2020 marks 50 years since the Black Power Revolution in T&T. And as the Catholic Church celebrates the beginning of Lent, they partnered with the National Joint Action Committee to acknowledge the two events.

During his homily, His Grace Archbishop Charles Jason Gordon asked the congregation for forgiveness for the church as he said it has not done enough to cease inequality in T&T.

Archbishop Gordon thanked those who fought for equality in 1970 but said its time to move beyond the remembrance of the day.

He lamented the crime situation in this country. He said the violence has stemmed from pockets of undeveloped black communities in society. The Archbishop told the congregation we must create a blueprint for African development in this country.

Mawasi Experience then performed O Creator as ashes were distributed.

Brother Valentino then performed Glory Be.

To close 3 Canal then performed the final song titled Sacrifice.

A number of Government Officials were spotted among the congregation including the speaker of the house Brigid Annisette-George, Minister of Agriculture Clarence Rambharat and Chairman of the UNC David Lee.
