The Trinidad and Tobago Regiment has confirmed that it has launched an investigation into an alleged shooting incident at Camp Ogden in St James, yesterday.

In an official statement issued today concerning the matter, the Regiment explains that a member discharged his weapon in the air—the shots that were heard coming from the Camp—and has since been disciplined for his actions.

INCIDENT INVOLVING SERVICE PERSONNEL AT CAMP OGDEN

The Trinidad and Tobago Regiment wishes to advise that yesterday, Thursday 17th December 2020, a serving member discharged his service weapon into the air at Camp Ogden, Long Circular Road, St. James.

This action resulted in the sound of several gunshots being heard in the vicinity of the military compound.

The serving member was made to hand over his weapon and was subsequently placed under arrest in accordance with Military Legal procedures.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing at this time.

The Trinidad and Tobago Regiment wishes to assure members of the public that the highest standards of discipline amongst its serving members remains a hallmark of the military profession.
