Regional activists want discussion on abortion rights

By now you’ve heard of the furore in the United States over the overturning of Roe v Wade.

Roe v Wade was the historic Supreme Court ruling which granted access to abortion across the US. But now it’s deemed unconstitutional, and abortions have been curtailed.

The news was received with shock in the Caribbean despite not having any impact here. In fact, in Trinidad and Tobago, women have never had unrestricted access to abortion—it remains illegal.

Now, women’s rights activists are hoping the conversation can be revived locally.
