Santa Cruz man shot dead

A 22-year-old was gunned down in Santa Cruz yesterday.

He has been identified as Christian Perez of La Canoa Road.

According to a police report, at about 9 am several gunshots were heard in the area and when residents checked they saw Perez lying dead at the Corner of Robert Street and Monroe Road, La Canoa.

Police are yet to determine a motive for the killing.

Man wounded in D’Abadie shooting

A 20-year-old was shot and wounded while standing in front of his home in D’Abadie on Thursday evening.

According to a police report, at about 6 pm the victim was standing on the roadway in front of his home at Johnson Trace, D’Abadie, speaking to someone when a Nissan B-15 pulled up and two men alighted– one of whom he knows. Both had firearms and shot at him. He was wounded in the right thigh, left leg and right upper arm. He was taken to the Arima Health Facility. He was in a stable condition yesterday.

In an unrelated shooting, at about 5.30pm, also on on Thursday, officers of the La Horquetta Police Station responded to a report at Phase 1 La Horquetta where several vehicles and homes were shot at.

On arrival, the officers observed a quantity of spent shells and a car with bullet holes.

At the corner of Mannie Dookie and Samuel Selvon Street several spent shells were found and three cars damaged.

At Kathleen Warner and Raffie Knowles Street Phase 1 a quantity of spent casings were found.

Also, at Sel Duncan Avenue Phase 1 La Horquetta a Nissan Almera, which was stolen in the Arima district at about 5 pm that same day, was found abandoned with bullet holes.

Guard charged with Valencia Murder

A 19-year-old security guard, of Valencia Road, Valencia, has been charged with murder and wounding with intent.

Terrance Francois was charged on Thursday following the advice of Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Joan Honore-Paul. He was expeted to appear in the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court.

A police release said around 6.35 pm on May 13,, 2021, police officers received a report of wounding and went to the Valencia Health Centre.

On arrival, they saw Christopher Ollivierre and his brother, Keron Ollivierre with stab wounds, lying on the roadway.

Both men were taken to the Sangre Grande Hospital for medical attention.

Christopher succumbed to his injuries while being treated at 7 pm while Keron underwent surgery for his injuries at the hospital.

Crime scene personnel processed the scene and retrieved a knife and other items of evidential value.

A man went to the Valencia Police Post and reported the incident. Officers visited the scene with the man, then took him to seek medical attention.

The man was arrested on Thursday and to the Valencia Police Post.

Tobago man accused of sexual touching girl, 10

A Tobago man was denied bail when he appeared in the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court charged with sexual touching of a 10-year-old girl.

Jessie Romeo, 30, a barber, of Centre Street, Lambeau, was denied bail by Magistrate Jo-Anne Connor.

He will reappear before the court on June 17.

Romeo was arrested and charged by WPC Small, of the Tobago Divison Child Protection Unit (CPU), on Wednesday following investigations into a report made to the police by a girl that she was allegedly assaulted by a man earlier this month.

According to the girl, on May 9, she was asleep at her aunt’s home when a man entered the bedroom, laid on top of her and touched her on her private part and bottom.

Investigations were headed by Superintendent Claire Guy-Alleyne and supervised by Sgt. Miller, of the Tobago CPU.
