Santa Cruz man to appear in court charged with murder

A Santa Cruz man is expected to appear before a Port of Spain
Magistrate today charged with the murder of Ainsworth Dalrymple
and shooting with intent which occurred on April 12th.
Aaron Ellis, 38, of La Pastora Village, Santa Cruz, was also
charged with possession of firearm and possession of ammunition,
following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger
Gaspard SC, April 17th.
According to police reports: Dalrymple, 41, also of La Pastora Village, Santa Cruz, was at Blazney Road, Santa Cruz, with two male friends when a man
armed with a gun approached and started shooting at them. The
victim was hit about the body and died at the scene, while one of
the other men was hit in the leg. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
Investigations resulted in a suspect being apprehended a short
distance away on the same date.
Ellis was charged by PC Benaldo of Homicide Bureau of
Investigations, Region 2, on Friday 17th April 2020.
