Scarborough man held with firearm, drugs

Officers of Tobago Divisional Task Force have arrested one man for being in possession of a firearm, ammunition, and marijuana.

The Police Service says the arrest occurred during an anti-crime exercise conducted in Scarborough on Tuesday 10th November 2020. The exercise was supervised by Snr Supt Garvin Simon and conducted by Sgt George.

According to police reports, officers on exercise observed a 39-year-old man crossing the street with a pistol in his hand.  The man was stopped and searched and the firearm seized.  An additional search was conducted and 42 grammes of marijuana allegedly were found. 

A search warrant was obtained and a further search was conducted at the suspect’s dwelling—an apartment at Mt Pelier, Scarborough.

There, police officers allegedly found some 92 grammes of marijuana.  It was seized.  Officers also searched the suspect’s vehicle where they discovered a further 128 grammes of marijuana. That, too, was seized.

Investigations are continuing.
