Scotiabank T&T Chairman retires

Chairman of the Board of Directors, Scotiabank T&T, Brendan King is set to retire.

In a statement the bank said King who has over 30 years of distinguished service as a senior executive of The Bank of Nova Scotia, Canada, retires effective October 31.

The bank also noted King’s contributions to the the organisation’s’s international markets over the years.

As Chairman, the bank said King played a key role in the direction and strategy of the bank locally, including significant progress in transforming the bank digitally and other measures for long-term and sustainable growth.

The bank also announced changes to its board of directors and Caribbean management with the appointment of Anya Schnoor as the executive vice president of its Caribbean, Central America and Uruguay (CCAU) region.

It noted Schnoor has held several senior roles in the bank’s operations in Jamaica and T&T in her 28-year career.

Scotiabank group head, International Banking and Digital Transformation, Ignacio Deschamps said, “Anya brings a wealth of experience and an in-depth knowledge of the region and is uniquely qualified to lead the region as it navigates its recovery during this difficult time.”

He also noted the bank commitment to advancing female leaders.

“Scotiabank is also committed to advancing female leaders in the workplace which we see as a top priority for the long-term success of the Bank,” Deschamps added.

The announcement follows efforts by Scotiabank to reposition and strengthen its business in the region, maximising shareholder returns and putting customers first.
