Scrap iron dealers are now able to apply for their licenses, following a decision by the Licensing Committee at the Chaguanas Magistrates Court, yesterday.

In an official statement issued by the Trinidad and Tobago Scrap Iron Dealers Association, the group’s President, Allan Ferguson, confirms that all stakeholders in the Scrap Iron and Salvage Industry can now apply for licenses, as the Committee has granted the Association the normal One (1) year license required.

In the release, Mr Ferguson lobbied again for the Ministry of Trade and Industry to work on the Association’s behalf, to ensure they would eventually be able to receive licenses for a five (5) year period, which he says is a more practical option.

According to Allan Ferguson, such a development would eliminate any reoccurrence of the discomfort and loss of business that the Association and its members underwent, from December 2018 through April 2019.
