The search for missing diver Reinaldo Novoa Senior looks set to continue into its sixth day after search attempts on Thursday were, once again, unsuccessful.

Dozens of volunteers and members of the Coast Guard and Air Guard came out early yesterday morning to search the north and east coasts of Trinidad, and parts of Tobago, on foot, by boat and by plane.

The parties worked late into the night, desperately hoping to spot the 66-year-old.

Working with tidal predictions, yesterday’s search was expanded to include areas as far as Barbados.

Friends and relatives of the retired nurse, nonetheless, maintain hope that he will still be found alive.

They will be continuing search efforts this morning, and are welcoming assistance in the form of volunteers to cover coastal areas by foot, ham radio operators, as well as boat, plane and drone operators.

Reinaldo Novoa went missing 18 miles off the coast of Manzanilla on Sunday after being taken out by boat to scuba dive.

He is an experienced swimmer and diver.

Before his disappearance, the grandfather of seven began writing a book about his love for the seas of Trinidad and Tobago.
