Tobago’s Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development has confirmed that the security officer who had been on duty at a WASA compound and died last week, did not have COVID-19.

WASA had taken emergency and precautionary measures following the security officer’s death, out of concern that a coronavirus infection may have been behind it.

UPDATE ON THE DEATH OF THE SECURITY OFFICER CONTRACTED BY WASA

The Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development hereby informs the public that the security officer contracted by the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA), who died on Saturday 18th April, 2020, was swabbed and tested for COVID-19, and the results returned negative.

The Division once again expresses its regret at the unfortunate, public ventilation of this sensitive issue and extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
