Seven men were arrested for various offences, including marijuana trafficking and possession, during an anti-crime exercise in the Central Division yesterday, Thursday 3 December 2020.
According to an official release from the Police Service, surveillance was conducted at a residence on Flamingo Avenue, Lisas Gardens, Couva, during which several persons were observed conducting transactions at the location.
A search warrant was executed and a quantity of dry, plant-like material resembling cannabis was found. Police also seized the sum of $5,017.
Four men were arrested for trafficking in marijuana.
The TTPS reports that police officers also executed a search warrant at a location at Union Village, Chaguanas. There, they found and seized several quantities of dry, plant-like material resembling cannabis. They also seized a quantity of cash—some $9,410 in TT-dollars and US$10 .
One person was arrested for trafficking in marijuana and another for possession of marijuana.
A warrant is being issued for the arrest of a third suspect for trafficking in marijuana.
A total of 1.64 kilograms of marijuana was seized from both locations.
The exercise took place between the hours of 2 pm and 7 pm on Thursday.
It was coordinated by Snr Supt Curt Simon, Supts Ramphal and Pierre, ASP Gibbs, and Insp Ragoo. It was supervised by Insp Alexander, Sgts Modeste and Badree and included officers of the Couva Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Central Division Task Force Area South, Couva Warrants, and the Canine Branch.
Investigations are ongoing.
