Seven COVID deaths, 106 new cases

The country has recorded seven additional COVID-19 fatalities, bringing the pandemic’s death toll up to 1,464.

The Ministry of Health’s daily update yesterday said the recent fatalities were two elderly males, three elderly females, one middle-aged male with comorbidities and one middle-aged male without comorbidities.

The ministry also confirmed 106 new infections from samples collected between September 23 and 26.

Despite the new infections, active cases decreased to 4,213, after 201 people recovered from the disease. These were 23 people who were discharged from public health facilities and 179 people released from home self-isolation as recovered community cases. There were 3,749 people in home self-isolation and 287 people warded in hospitals.

As of 4 pm yesterday, 567,206 people had received the first dose of a vaccine to date, with 479,905 completing a regime.
