Seven people, who have been described by the police as high-profile offenders, are now in police custody for inquiries into several shootings in the Carapo and Arima districts.
According to a police report, the suspects were held on Thursday during a police operation conducted by officers of the Northern Division Task Force (Area East), including Inspector Pitt, Sgt Mascall, Cpls Gentle, Sookram, Maderia, among others.
The officers, the report stated, acted on intelligence received and made their way to the Carapo area where they executed search warrants at several houses, including an abandoned structure.
The seven men, who are between the ages of 18 and 40 years, were arrested relative to shooting enquires in the Carapo district.
They are expected to be placed on several identification parades over the weekend.
