The Trinidad and Police Service (TTPS) is issuing another reminder to drivers to “Drive Sober”, especially during this Carnival season.
This, as five people are expected to appear in court today, Tuesday 18th February, on charges of driving a vehicle with breath alcohol levels exceeding the prescribed legal limit.
Officers of the Highway Patrol Road Policing Task Force screened some 150 persons for breath alcohol levels during a Road Traffic Exercise conducted on the east-bound lane of the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, El Socorro, early this morning, between 1:30am and 5:00am.
During the exercise, officers discovered that five of those tested were over the prescribed limit. They were subsequently arrested and charged.
During the same exercise, two fixed penalty tickets were issued for driving without headlights.
The exercise was supervised by ACP (Ag) Odette Lewis and Superintendent Gordon in the wee hours of Tuesday 18th February, 2020.
The TTPS says it will continue to conduct Road Traffic Exercises across the country and urges drivers to “Drive Sober”.
