A 44-year-old Carenage man who was shot by an intruder at his home on Monday evening is warded in stable condition at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital. Police said at around 7,05 pm the victim, who was not named, was at his home at 215 Murphy Street with one of his cousins when a man they did not know entered the yard, pointed a gun at the victim and fired several shots.

The victim attempted to escape by jumping into a nearby river but was pursued by the assailant. He raised an alarm and the suspect fled. The victim, who was shot in the left arm and right thigh, was taken to the St. James Medical Facility by acting Sgt Adams then transferred to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital. The suspect was described as a man of mixed descent, slim built and approximately five feet four inches tall. Investigations are continuing.
