Shop owner shot and wounded during a robbery

According to a police report, the proprietor was shot and wounded in the right hand and chest.

A 40-year-old shop owner was shot and wounded on Thursday afternoon during a robbery at his shop in Curepe.

According to a police report, the proprietor was shot and wounded in the right hand and chest. Police said the bullet went through his right hand and lodged in his torso.

At about 3:30 pm on Thursday, the victim was at his business place at Ramgoolie Street called Pocket Change Mini Mart, when he was accosted by two men, one of whom was armed with a gun and who announced a robbery.

Police said the men tied up the shop owner before ransacking his business place.

After an alarm was raised, a gunshot reportedly was heard.  It was discovered that the victim had been shot.

The suspects reportedly then escaped in a grey Lancer with $5,000 in cash and a cartoon of cigarettes.

The victim was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where he was attended to and currently is warded in a stable and satisfactory condition.

Investigations are ongoing.
