Shrine set up at site of deadly Maraval fire

Investigations into the fire at the home in Rookery Nook, Maraval, which claimed the lives of three-year-old Kayden Burke, six-year-old Faith Burke and 17-year-old Ezekiel Burke will soon come to an end.

Yesterday, fire officials returned to the scene to continue investigations into the cause of the blaze.

It was last Monday, fire officials responded to a call that five children were trapped in house in Maraval.

When they arrived within five minutes of the call, two of the three children escaped the blaze.

Fire fighters at the scene used sledgehammers and other tools to gain access however it was too late for the children.

According to reports, the children’s parents were at work at the time. They have been identified as Troy Burke and Genevieve Rodriguez.

Prayers and condolences poured in for the family with a memorial and shrine at the scene of the fire with many leaving messages of comfort and flowers along with candles and toys for the children who lost their lives,

Guardian Media understands that funeral arrangements are to be decided very soon and a date for the children’s funeral should be confirmed as early as next week.

Fire officials intend to return to the scene, where a final analysis of the fire will be completed as soon as possible.
