Six arrested for breach of Public Health Regulations

Six persons were arrested for breaching the updated COVID-19 Public Health Regulations, and some 77 persons were issued tickets for failure to wear a face mask, following police exercises on Wednesday and Thursday.

Six persons were arrested for breaching the updated COVID-19 Public Health Regulations, and some 77 persons were issued tickets for failure to wear a face mask, following police exercises on Wednesday and Thursday.

The new regulations came into effect on Wednesday, and the TTPS is urging citizens to adhere to the Public Health Regulations and encouraging them to share information on possible breaches.

According to official police reports, between 6 am on Wednesday 21st, and 6 am on Thursday 22nd April 2021, Eastern Division police officers arrested six persons, ages 27 to 45 years, when they were found at Matura beach, Salybia.

In addition, police officers issued 23 tickets to persons in the Eastern, Central, Northern, North-Eastern, and Port of Spain Divisions, for failure to wear a face mask, in exercises conducted between Wednesday and Thursday.

And between the period 6 am on Thursday 22nd and 6 am on Friday 23rd April 2021, officers issued a total of 54 tickets in the Eastern, Central, and Northern Divisions, while no arrests were made for breaches of the regulations.

Officers also were kept busy following up on information about possible breaches to the regulations from concerned citizens. In all instances, no breaches were observed.
