Fifty-one year Michael Craig of St. James has been charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. Craig appeared virtually at the Port-of-Spain Magistrates’ Court and was granted $80,000 bail with a surety, or $20,000 cash bail. The case was postponed to August 9th, 2021. The charge was laid by Cpl Rajesh Antoine.

According to police reports, following information received, officers proceeded to Luckput Street, St James, where a black Audi A5, registration PDT 5660, was observed parked along the roadway. The officers interviewed residents of the area and a man, who claimed to be the owner of the vehicle, was located. The chassis number was checked and was found to be registered to a vehicle of the same make and model, registration PDW 6765, which had been reported stolen during a robbery with violence incident in the North-Eastern Division in 2019.

The man was detained by the officers pending further investigations. Investigations were coordinated by Snr. Supt. Christopher Paponette, and spearheaded by Supt. Michael Veronique, with legal advice from legal officer, Zaheer Ali, of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).
