RHONDOR DOWLAT-ROSTANT

Head of the Western Division Senior Superintendent Kelvern Thompson is dispelling claims that a road exercise conducted on Monday morning, the first day of the physical reopening of school was maliciously done.

Thompson was responding to claims made by disgruntled social media users who were caught up in standstill traffic in the Four Roads, Diego Martin area. Thompson, when contacted by the Guardian Media, insisted that the exercise was done based on intelligence and patterns received and “not to cause mischief.”

Thompson said it was not the intention and added that when the police conducts exercises it’s to “verify that those on the nation’s roads are licensed to do so and the vehicles are road worthy and safe for other road users.”
