Suspect arrested after search for illegal weapons unveils card skimming operation

A 25-year-old man was arrested this morning, after a routine police search for illegal weapons, instead unearthed a card skimming operation.

Guardian Media understands that during the period 1 am and 4 am on Wednesday, a party of officers went to the St Joseph home of the suspect to execute a search warrant for arms and ammunition.

Police report that nothing named in the warrant was found; however, the officers instead discovered credit card skimmers, ABM card readers and blank cards used in ABM fraud, as well as blank cheques and a laptop.

Police seized all the items, and the suspect—who is also a deportee—was arrested pending enquiries.

His details are to be circulated with Interpol and the ABM Task Force.

The exercise in the Northern Division’s St Joseph district was coordinated by Snr Supt Dominique, Supt Ramsook, ASP Sylvester and supervised by Ag Insp Brown, and included members of the E999/ERP Tactical Response Patrol Team.
