Suspect held in triple homicide

Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region II have detained a suspect in connection with the triple homicide at San Juan on Friday. They also recovered the firearm allegedly used to commit the murders, along with six live rounds of ammunition and three spent casings.

At approximately 5 pm on Friday, there were reports of loud explosions at Oudan Trace, Don Miguel Road, San Juan. A close relative later told investigators that he was at home in the bathroom when he heard loud explosions. He came outside and saw three family members slumped on the couch in the living room area with gunshot wounds to the back of their heads.

The victims are Kumari Kowlessar-Timal, 76, of Dalloway Road, Arima, Radeshka Timal, 48, and Zackary Shrikan David, 21, a student, both of Oudan Trace, Don Miguel Road, San Juan.

17 arrested for curfew breaches

Eastern Division police officers arrested and charged 17 people for curfew breaches.

Between 3.30 pm and 5.50 pm on Friday, five people were arrested for breaching the public health regulations after they were found swimming in the Matura River.

Officers went to 10-1/2 mm on theToco Main Road, Matura where they saw five people, three men and two women in the river. They were taken to the station and charged by WPC Dick-Francis for the offence and are due to appear virtually at the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court on October 22.

That exercise was coordinated by Ag Snr Supt Khan, supervised by Insp Simon and included Ag Sgt Hazel, Ag Cpl James and officers from the Matura Police Station.

In another exercise in Sangre Grande between 11 pm Friday and 2 am yesterday, 12 people were arrested , including nine who were detained at Robinson Lane, Damarie Hill, around 11.05 pm. The three others were arrested along Seeree Trace, Foster Road, around 11.45 pm. All 12 were charged by PC Boodram.

The exercise was coordinated by Ag Snr Supt Khan, supervise by Ag Sgt Khan and included Ag Cpl Osouna, and officers of Area North Task Force.

Three charged for theft of TSTT cables

Three people were arrested and charged for the theft of TSTT cables following surveillance and searches in Carlsen Field, Chaguanas, and Mundo Nuevo.

Seven counts of larceny allegedly committed on August 9, August 16 and September 15 were laid against Lorenzo Moonsammy, 21, Travis Ramcharitar, 20, both of Eagle Drive, Carlsen Field, Chaguanas, and Daryl Benny, 20 of Juan Fuentes Trace, Mundo Nuevo. The charges were laid by WPC Sampson and PC Persad and three are scheduled to appear before an Arima Magistrate tomorrow.

Investigations were supervised by Supt Edwards, Insp Ward, Insp Mascall, Sgt Bissessar, and Ag Cpl Bernard and included members of the La Horquetta Criminal Investigations Department, the Area East Operations Unit (AEOU), La Horquetta Charge Room, and TSTT security personnel.
