A 29-year-old Tacarigua resident has been arrested for possession of firearm and ammunition.

An official release from the TTPS explains that the arrest was made during an anti-crime exercise coordinated by Snr Supt Ramkelawan, ASP Gyan and Insp. Pitt. The exercise was spearheaded by Sgt Pamphille and supervised by PC Morang, and included officers of the North Division Task Force, Area Central in the Northern and Eastern Divisions.

Police reports state that during the exercise, officers acted on information received and proceeded to Bald Head Springs, Cumaca, Valencia.

There, they searched a wooden structure and discovered and seized one brown coloured shotgun containing one 12-gauge cartridge.

A 29 year-old-man, of #78 St. Michael Road in Tacarigua, was arrested in connection with the find.

The TTPS release also reports that the officers on the anti-exercise also proceeded to a bushy area off St. Michael Road, Tacarigua. At that location, they found and seized one brown coloured shotgun containing one 12-gauge cartridge.

Investigations are ongoing.
