States of Emergency declared in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi as Tropical Storm Alberto nears

Alberto, the first storm of the season, continues hurtling toward the Gulf Coast, with residents being warned of heavy rain, wind and flash flooding.

Florida, Alabama and Mississippi have declared states of emergency.

The subtropical storm has officially been named as the first storm of the 2018 hurricane season, threatening to smash into America’s Gulf Coast. 

The National Weather Service has warned residents to “take this storm seriously.”
