Alexander, Mires freed in assault case

Inspector Roger Alexander and another police officer have been freed of assaulting a man from Santa Cruz in 2016.

Magistrate Nizam Khan dismissed the charges against the officers this morning after prosecutors from the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) failed to start the trial of case as scheduled.

The trial of the case had been delayed several times in the past as prosecutors had previously stated that they had issues in locating the four civilian witnesses in the case.
