Arima teen held for supermarket robbery and murder

A Pinto Road, Arima teen has been arrested for the brazen armed robbery at a supermarket along the Eastern Main Road, Maturita Village, on Saturday night which left the guard dead and three injured. 

Four unmasked bandits walked into Cantonese Superstore shortly after 8.15 pm and pretended to be customers just before closing time.

After walking through the store they approached the cashier and other workers and customers and whipped out guns. 

Police said a mini-machine gun and pistols were used by the killers.

Teen who was hit by car at Pro Bar has died

The 19-year-old man who was knocked down outside Pro Bar in Malabar, Arima, has died.

Ezekiel Burton passed away just before 2pm today at the Mount Hope hospital.

He had suffered internal injuries and before passing, a close family friend said  he was completely brain dead.

The accident, in which he was tossed several feet away, was captured on a security camera and has been shared online.

54-year-old woman badly burnt in arson attack

A 54-year-old woman is now fighting for her life after sustaining burns about her body in a suspected arson attack at her Arima home.

According to police reports, 54-year-old Annie Sammy was at her home at Lala Trace, Wallerfield home when an unknown assailant threw a Molotov cocktail through the front window.

The attack occurred shortly after 3am.

CNC3 News understands that family members were awoken by a loud explosion.

Upon checking they discovered Sammy's room on fire.

Attempts were made to extinguish the blaze.

Murder in Arima

This country has recorded its 228th murder for the year thus far.

Aboud 10:30 pm Anderson Gomez of Maturita Extension Arima was at the carpark of Big Yard Recreation Club when gunmen approached him and fatally shot him.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Gomez was involved in an altercation over a roulette machine earlier on in the day.

No arrests have been made, however, police are continuing their investigations. 


Murder in Arima

A 29-year-old man has been shot and killed in Arima.

According to police reports, at about 9:45pm yesterday, residents of Walnut drive, Calvary Hill, Arima, heard several loud explosions and upon investigating they found the bullet-riddled body of a man lying on the roadway.

The police were notified and a team of officers visited the scene.

The deceased was later identified as Brian Vesprey of Cedros.

An autopsy is carded for today.


20-year-old man murdered in Arima

A 20-year-old man has been killed in Malabar, Arima.

Police reports indicate that Akeem Adams was shot several times in an ambush around 7.20 Monday night.

Eyewitnesses say they heard loud gunshots and upon checking, Adams was discovered lying on the road with several gunshot wounds.

He was taken to the Arima hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Arima businessman succumbs to injuries from December shooting

An Arima man who was shot outside his business place last December has succumbed to his injuries. 

Police say 30-year-old Jean Pierre Assee died last night at hospital.

Assee of Sierra Vista Drive, O'meara Road, was shot several times about his body outside his Ramcharan Street, St Augustine business place in December.

He along with two other people were shot by the occupants of a vehicle registered PBE 7954.

The vehicle pulled alongside the group and the occupants opened fire from inside.
