‘Bikini’ fete blocked by HDC

The Hous­ing De­vel­op­ment Cor­po­ra­tion (HDC) has moved to shut down a biki­ni par­ty ad­ver­tised to be held on an HDC com­pound in Arou­ca on Sun­day.

Par­ty of­fi­cials of this week­end’s “Hu­la Cool­er Biki­ni Splash” are now forced to have the par­ty moved to an­oth­er venue as a cease no­tice has been served on the ones be­lieved to be be­hind the La Vie venue.

HDC moves in on unauthorised event at HDC-owned land

The T&T Police Service has been notified of a highly advertised “Hula Cooler, Bikini Splash” event carded to take place this Sunday on a parcel of land owned by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC).

Efforts are now being made to pull the plug on this event and it is expected that officials from the HDC's security department will be serving a cease notice to its party promoter.

Guardian Media understands that the unauthorised event, is being planned on illegal structures at HDC's reserve land, near Bon Air Gardens in Arouca. 

Former TLM Resident: ‘Abuse and licks for demons’

Se­nior po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tors tasked with in­ves­ti­gat­ing the ac­tiv­i­ties at the Trans­formed Life Min­istry Re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion Cen­tre say they will now be look­ing in­to fresh al­le­ga­tions of abuse at the fa­cil­i­ty.

This af­ter one of four per­sons pre­vi­ous­ly housed there, who were not part of the group re­suced last week, claimed that dur­ing his two-year stay he was abused by sev­er­al peo­ple.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors say this and oth­er al­le­ga­tions made by sev­er­al oth­er peo­ple once housed there will be “thor­ough­ly in­ves­ti­gat­ed.”

Church resumes at Transformed Life Ministry

 

Church ser­vices re­sumed on Sat­ur­day at the Trans­formed Life Min­istry, East­ern Main Road in Arou­ca and the at­ten­dance was de­scribed as “the usu­al.”

The Pas­tor, Glen Awong, was al­so said to be “do­ing well.”

Murder in Arouca

A man has been shot and killed in Arouca.

Details are still coming to hand, however CNC3 news understands that the victim, who went by the alias "Patch", was accosted by an armed assailant at a house in Windy Hill this morning.

Residents reported hearing several loud explosions.

On checking, the man's lifeless body was discovered lying in a pool of blood.

Investigations are ongoing.

Awong: I’m no monster

Pas­tor Glenn Awong is un­apolo­getic for the ac­tiv­i­ties that were al­leged­ly un­cov­ered at his Trans­formed Life Min­istries Re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion Cen­tre af­ter po­lice of­fi­cers from the Spe­cial Op­er­a­tions Re­sponse Team (SORT) raid­ed the com­pound in the wee hours of Wednes­day morn­ing.

In fact, Awong sees him­self as a sav­iour of the peo­ple that he said he was “car­ing” for.

T&T Council of Evangelical Churches disheartened over discovery at TLM

The Trinidad and Tobago Council of Evangelical Churches says it is disheartened to learn of the inhumane conditions under which 69 persons were found at the transformation life ministry rehabilitation centre.

In a statement released yesterday, the Council said the actions of Pastor Glen Awong do not reflect the values of Christianity.

In addition, the Council said it in no way condones his actions and those of his staff, and expressed hopes the victims will receive all the necessary counselling, medical and financial support needed for a full recovery.

Ramadharsingh: Concerns were raised and dealt with

For­mer Min­is­ter of the Peo­ple and So­cial De­vel­op­ment un­der the Peo­ple’s Part­ner­ship Gov­ern­ment Dr Glen Ra­mad­hars­ingh, in con­demn­ing the hous­ing of the men­tal­ly ill and so­cial­ly dis­placed in cages at the Trans­formed Life Min­istry (TLM) in Arou­ca, said yes­ter­day that dur­ing his tenure as min­is­ter in 2013/2014 con­cerns were raised as to the method­olo­gies and it was dealt with.

“This is like a hor­ror movie,” said a fam­i­ly mem­ber whose rel­a­tive was among 69 peo­ple dis­cov­ered locked in cages at the Trans­formed Life Min­istry Re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion Cen­tre in on the East­ern Main Road, Arou­ca, yes­ter­day morn­ing dur­ing a raid by po­lice.

“I nev­er knew all this was hap­pen­ing here. I am lost for words. This is worse than bad treat­ment of an­i­mals. Had I known I would have done things dif­fer­ent­ly but I could not deal with my rel­a­tive who is men­tal­ly ill.”

CAGED: Police uncover horror at Arouca church

Sixty-Nine people ranging from the ages of 19 to 70 years have been found locked away in cages at a church located along the Eastern Main Road in Arouca on Wednesday morning.

These people both men and women are believed to be victims of "modern day slavery" and "human trafficking" according to Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith who spoke to the Guardian Media Limited's Lead Investigative desk Mark Bassant earlier on Wednesday just outside the Transformed Life Ministry Rehabilitation Centre.
