Ten persons were arrested and a quantity of marijuana and assorted ammunition found during an anti-crime exercise, in the Laventille area, by officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force and Port of Spain CID.
Police say officers conducted the exercise under the supervision of Snr. Supt. Radcliff Boxhill, between 4:30 am and 9:30 am on Wednesday 17th May, 2017, at Leau Place, Lovell Place, St. Paul Street and surrounding areas.
Police have arrested and charged eight men for possession of illegal drugs and two for motor vehicle larceny.
The arrests were made in the Central Division.
According to police, search warrants were executed at several known drug blocks, leading to the arrests of Keshawn Richards, 29, of Chase Village, Carapichaima and Garfield Lewis, 50, of Todd’s Road, Caparo for cocaine possession.
House search exercises in the Northern Division over the weekend, have resulted in five persons being arrested and the seizure of three illegal firearms and other illegal items, a statement by the Police Service says.
Between 11am and 4pm on Saturday 8th April, 2017, officers of the Northern Division Task Force, executed a search warrant at Sunset Drive, Malabar, where they found and seized three grammes of marijuana.
A 37-year-old man who was found on the premises was arrested.
Police have recovered a stolen vehicle and have arrested 17 people for driving under the influence and being in possession of marijuana.
This follows a series of exercises across several police districts over the weekend.

Port of Spain Division – stolen vehicle recovered
Police have held two former special-ops soldiers with several firearms, ammunition and spare number plates in a bust along the Uriah Butler Highway this morning.
The bust was made the Highway Patrol Unit.
According to reports, around 6.40 am, the officers intercepted a Nissan SUV which was proceeding along the North Bound Lane of the highway in the vicinity of the Munroe Road flyover.
The officers ordered the two occupants of the vehicle to exit and a search ensued.
146 persons have been arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI) offences for the year so far.
That's according to data provided by the Police Service.
According to a release, the Traffic and Highway Branch has tested over 2900 motorists, apart from the 845 voluntary breath tests that was carried out of which 304 persons were found to be over the limit.
