A body has been discovered, floating two miles east of Carrera Island.
The body was retrieved by members of the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG) diving team on Monday.
Upon further investigation by the TTGC, it was discovered that the partially decomposing body was that of a male of African descent six feet tall, clad in a black tee-shirt, blue jeans and blue sneakers.
The body was handed over to the Carenage police station and is now the subject of a police investigation.

An investigation is launched into the death of a homeless man.
CNC3 News understands that around 6 am on Thursday a passer-by discovered the lifeless body of the man along Prince Street, Port of Spain. The police were contacted and upon arrival cordoned off the area. Preliminary reports suggest that the man, who is yet to be identified may have died as a result of foul play.
Police officers are investigating the discovery of a body on Munroe Road, Cunupia.
Reports indicate that a passerby alerted the police to a body lying in the pavilion of the Munroe Road Recreational Grounds.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be determined and it is unclear whether or not foul play led to the person's death.

The decomposed body of a woman found in South Trinidad is not that of missing hairdresser Ria Sookdeo.
Police say the body belongs to someone else.
According to police the body of the woman found had a tattoo on her foot.
Sookdeo had no tattoos.
At around 9.30 am officers of the Anti-KIdnapping Unit, Criminal Gang Intelligence Unit and San Fernando CID responded to reports that a body was found three miles off Bunsee Trace, Penal, an area police had searched one week ago.
The police are seeking the assistance of the public in identifying the body of a female masquerader which was found under a tree at the Queen's Park Savannah.
