A 34-year-old man has been shot and killed in Carapichaima.
According to reports Jason Richards was standing in front of a parlour near Aberdeen Drive along Orange Field Road when two men jumped out of a nearby vehicle and opened fire.
Richards who was hit several times about the body died on the spot. The men escaped in another waiting vehicle, leaving the first one behind. Neighbours reported hearing 6 loud explosions.
This country’s death toll is over 380 for the year.
Freeport Police, Central Division and the Homicide Bureau are continuing investigations.
One man has been arrested and a revolver and quantities of ammunition and marijuana found, by officers of the Central Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Chaguanas and Carapichaima districts.
The exercise, spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Inraj Balram, coordinated by ASP (Ag.) Richard Smith and supervised by Sgt. Allan Jodhan, took place between 10 am and 9 pm, on Thursday and included officers of the Central Special Crime Unit, Longdenville Police Post, the Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit and the Canine Branch.
Police are currently on the scene where a burnt body has been discovered in a car in Carapichaima.
The body was discovered by a farmer along a trace off the Exchange Connector Road this morning.
The area is largely agricultural land.
The body was discovered in a white vehicle that was entirely gutted.
Police were unable to say whether it is a male or female.
Police are continuing investigations.
A Guyanese national living in this country has died in hospital, days after being beaten, stabbed and burnt alive by two men in Carapichaima.
According to reports, Deokaran Seokaran had gone to the Downhome Bar on Waterloo Road, Carapichaima, when around 4.30 in the morning of November 29th, he went to the washroom.
He was accosted by two men, who robbed him and stabbed him twice.
Seokaran ran out of the bar and sought help at a private residence nearby.
