Murder in Carapo

A 21-year-old Carapo man was shot and killed in what police believe to be a gang-related murder.

The victim is identified as Kiedan Phillip.

Police say around 10 15 last evening, Phillip was liming with a group of men along Simon Road when they were approached by four armed men who wore masks.

An eyewitness told police that the armed men opened fire. 

Residents claimed they scattered for their lives along with the other members in the group who were liming while gunshots continued to ring out. 

Carapo man appears in court for murder of his father

A Carapo man appeared before an Arima Magistrate today, charged with the murder of his father, Nezam Hosein on March 24th, 2017.

Lennox Self, 30, of Jokhan Trace, Pascal Lane, Carapo, appeared before Magistrate Avason Quinlan, in the Arima 1st Magistrates’ Court, to answer to the charge.

The charge was laid by Cpl Dirk John, after advice was received from the Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard, SC, on Monday 3rd April, 2017.

Hosein, 48, died from multiple stab wounds about the body, following an altercation at his Carapo home, on Friday 24th March, 2017.

Man found chopped to death in car in Carapo

Police are investigating the murder of a man whose body was found in Carapo last night.

Police say a man of East Indian descent was found chopped several times in a white Elantra around 10 pm.

The body was found in the vicinity of the race track in Carapo.

He was later identified as 57-year-old Ricardo Jhinoo, an employee at the Santa Rosa Race Track. 

Police are continuing investigations.
