Woman's body identified

The woman whose body was found in Cunupia last week has been positively identified as 26-year-old Jana-Marie Moore, of Phase 6, La Horquetta.

The body was identified by Moore’s father at the Forensic Science Centre in St James on Tuesday.

Last Thursday, at about 2.15 pm, police officers received an anonymous call about the body.

They went to the location where they found the body in some bushes about 20 feet off from Ramcharitar Trace.

The woman's body bore multiple gunshot wounds to the face and upper body, and her hands were bound and her mouth gagged.

Cunupia man charged with woman's murder

A Cunupia man has appeared before the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court, charged with the murder of a woman whose partially burnt body was discovered, in the Cunupia district on Tuesday 4th September, 2018.

Mazud Nazir Rasheed, 29, a lorryman of Munroe Road, Cunupia, was remanded into custody when he appeared before Magistrate Christine Charles in the Chaguanas 1st Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 13th September, 2018.

The matter has been adjourned to Wednesday 10th October, 2018.

Rifle found in Cunupia

One man is arrested during an anti-crime exercise in Cunupia. 
A rifle and quantity of ammunition have been seized,
Officers of the Central Division Task Force Cunupia district led by Sgt. Glen Persad, conducted the exercise around 9:00 pm, on Wednesday 1st August 2018, during which they executed a search warrant at the Jonathan Trace, Cunupia home of a 24-year-old man. 

Coconut vendor shot dead after making wrong-turn in Cunupia

A coconut vendor has been shot dead after apparently making a wrong turn in Cunupia.

Ramesh Ramoutar died at hospital after gunmen opened fire on him and his nephew at Howard Lane.

According to reports, both men went to visit relatives in area.

Ramoutar's 31-year-old nephew Keron Rampersad was driving the vehicle around midnight last night and according to relatives, they got lost and made a wrong turn into a dead-end street.

When the men attempted to reverse, their vehicle was shot at by a group of men.

Cunupia man charged with possession of sub-machine gun

A Cunupia man is expected to appear before a San Fernando Magistrate today, charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition, after being arrested during an anti-crime exercise in the Cunupia district yesterday.

Jarod Khan, 25, of Jackman Trace, Cunupia, was arrested by officers of the Southern Division Task Force (SDTF), after a search warrant was executed at his home.

The exercise, supervised by Insp. (Ag.) Don Gajadhar and Sgt. Vishal Parasram, both of the SDTF, took place between 3 pm and 7 pm on Monday 14th May, 2018.

Cunupia man claims ghost opens window & gate - you be the judge of this video

A video making the rounds on social media shows a window and door opening almost simultaneously, with no apparent explanation.

The person speaking over the video, claims it was done by a ghost at his house in Cunupia.

Man found shot dead in Cunupia

The body of a man bearing gunshot wounds has been discovered in Cunupia.

Shortly after 8pm yesterday police responded to reports of what appeared to be an abandoned motor car at Gillis Trace, Mon Plasir.

Upon inspection, officers discovered the lifeless body of a man in the front seat of the car. 

He was shot several times about the body.investigations are ongoing.

Cunupia man charged with taxi driver's murder

A Cunupia man is expected to appear before a Tunapuna Magistrate today, charged with the 2016 murder of taxi driver Indranath Harrilal and common assault against one of his passengers.

Joey Kangal, 23, of Cliff Avenue, Madras Road, Cunupia, also faces charges of possession of firearm and possession of ammunition following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Honore-Paul, on Wednesday 3rd January, 2018.

$250,000 bail for Cunupia man charged with robbery with aggravation

A 22-year-old Cunupia man was granted $250,000 bail, after appearing before a Chaguanas Magistrate today, charged with nine counts of robbery with aggravation.

Justin Heeraman, of Chin Chin Road, Cunupia, stood before Senior Magistrate Jo-Anne Connor and was not called upon to plead, as the charge was laid indictably.

Heeraman, was arrested and charged on Sunday 9th April, 2017, by officers of the Cunupia Police Station, in connection with the robbery of a proprietor and patrons of a bar in Cunupia, on April 4th, 2017, of $38,000 worth in valuables.
