Fly Jamaica plane crashes in Guyana airport

A Fly Jamaica aircraft crashed into a fence on the runway of Guyana's main airport early Friday morning.

Six of the 118 passengers on board were badly injured and taken to hospital as all others were evacuated safely.

The injured received treatment at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre.

Emergency services at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport were mobilised some 45 minutes after the Fly Jamaica flight had taken off for Canada, as the captain radioed that there were hydraulic problems and they would be returning to the airstrip.
