Police have detained a Guyanese national who has been on the run for some time, after entering the country illegally.
The man was arrested as he attempted to board the ferry to Tobago this afternoon at the Ferry Terminal in Port-of-Spain.
Reports indicate that the man had escaped Immigration custody and was also wanted on a crime of petty larceny.
The man was arrested after the vehicle plate he arrived in triggered turned up as a vehicle wanted by police.
A Guyanese national has been arrested on arrival at the John F Kennedy International Airport with the authorities indicating that cocaine had been found in shoes in his luggage, a report by the Caribbean Media Corporation said.
The United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency said that Amaziah Hohenkirk “tried to walk past US Customs and Border Protection officers, but was stopped in his tracks.”
A Guyanese national living in this country has died in hospital, days after being beaten, stabbed and burnt alive by two men in Carapichaima.
According to reports, Deokaran Seokaran had gone to the Downhome Bar on Waterloo Road, Carapichaima, when around 4.30 in the morning of November 29th, he went to the washroom.
He was accosted by two men, who robbed him and stabbed him twice.
Seokaran ran out of the bar and sought help at a private residence nearby.
