Top Cop: Police officers entering courts must be scanned too

The Police Commissioner has issued a directive that all police officers entering court buildings must walk through the scanners there.

It comes on the heels of an incident on Tuesday, in which a police officer arrested a court security officer who had advised him of the scanner procedure and refused to follow the protocol. The court security officer was detained for several hours at the Mayaro Police Station.

St Clair businessman in court today

St Clair businessman, Michael Patrick Aboud, will appear in court today, charged with possession of an illegal firearm and narcotics.

Aboud will appear before a Port of Spain magistrate.

He was arrested at his St Clair home last week, following an almost five-hour long raid by officers of SORT—the Special Operations Response Team.

The exercise was coordinated by Police Commissioner Gary Griffith.

PCA and PSB probing Paryag shooting

The Police Complaints Authority (PCA) has confirmed that it has initiated its own probe into the matters surrounding the fatal shooting of Keone Paryag, on Friday night.

On Friday at about 6 p.m., police were called in to the Biljah Road, Chaguanas, apartment of Danah Alleyne, the sister of Crime Watch host, Ian Alleyne.

Reports are that she had been cornered in her apartment by her boyfriend, 34-year-old Keone Paryag, and was fearful for her life.

Secret Sunday pool party busted

A Secret Sunday pool party in Port of Sain was busted by officers of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT) after midnight on Sunday where 22 women were detained.
A 37-year-old woman from Westmoorings, who is believed to be the main suspect, has been arrested and is currently assisting police in their investigations.
