India thrash WI to win ODI series

India crushed the West Indies by nine wickets in the final One-day International to win the five-match series 3-1 here on Thursday.

Batting first after winning the toss, West Indies were 104 all out in 31.5 overs.

Chasing a paltry target of 105, India completed the task in 14.5 overs at the Greenfield Stadium.

Brief scores:

West Indies: 103 all out in 31.5 overs (Holder 25; Ahmed 2/29, Jadeja 4/33, Bumrah 2/11).

India: 105/1 in 14.5 overs (Rohit Sharma not out 63, Virat Kohli not out 33).

Sandals replaces Digicel as WI sponsor

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced that Sandals Resorts, the Caribbean brand and global leader in the luxury travel industry, has agreed a long-term contract to become the new principal partner and team sponsor of the WINDIES, following their support of last week’s Hurricane Relief T20 Challenge at Lord’s.

This follows the announcement by Digicel last week that it was dropping its sponsorship of West Indies cricket.

The new partnership is effective immediately and will cover all WINDIES teams from U-15s through to the WINDIES Men’s and Women’s teams.

Lame display sends Windies to series defeat

An out-of-sorts West Indies fared little better in the second Twenty20 International, producing another insipid display in an 82-run defeat, to concede the three-match series to Pakistan yesterday.

Only 24 hours after being dismissed for their lowest-ever T20 total and suffering the second heaviest defeat in the format, West Indies once again failed to show any enterprise, crashing to 123 all out with four balls left, in pursuit of an intimidating 206 at the National Stadium.
