Talparo man charged for camouflage possession

During an exercise in Talparo yesterday, 22-year-old Sharaz Hosein was arrested and charged after being unable to provide documents giving him permission to have camouflage clothing found at his home.

Police found a camouflage jacket and pants at his home on Todd’s Station Road in Talparo.

The following is a press release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service on the incident.

“Sharaz Hosein, a 22-year-old man from Todd’s Station Road, Talparo, has been charged with possession of prohibited goods, namely a camouflage outfit.

Between the hours of 8.30pm and 12am yesterday, members of the La Horquetta Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Area East Operations Unit (AEOU) conducted a roving exercise.

During the exercise, the officers proceeded to Joseph Morantes Trace, Todd’s Station Road, Talparo. The officers executed a search warrant at a house located at the said address.

Officers found one camouflage jacket and camouflage pants with numbers written on the inside of the waistband in a clothes basket.

The occupant of the house was asked to produce documents giving him permission to have the items, which he was unable to do.

The items were then seized and the man arrested and conveyed to the La Horquetta Police Station, where he was subsequently charged.

The exercise was coordinated by Supt Edwards, spearheaded by Insp Ward and supervised by Sgt Bissessar.”
