One of two friends who went to Arima to sell an iPhone was shot and killed after they both were robbed of their valuables.

Police have identified the deceased as 19-year-old Nicholas Butcher.

According to police reports, on Sunday night, Butcher and his friend were in a white Nissan Wingroad vehicle on Demarara Road in Arima, awaiting the arrival of the potential buyer, when they were approached by a gunman.

The man reportedly announced a hold up and robbed the two of their cash and other valuables, including the iPhone.

Reports are he then shot them both before fleeing the scene.

Butcher was shot several times, while his friend was shot in the left arm.

Both victims were then taken to the Arima Hospital.  However, Butcher died while undergoing treatment.

The other victim was treated and subsequently discharged.

Investigations are continuing.
